From a recent posting on Linkedin (SIA) - More people are using Twitter and the Staffing Industry is Following!
OK but how is the Staffing Industry leveraging Social Media, like Twitter to attract talent? Below were my comments/ observations to this topic and posting:
Good subject to explore, Ray. You and I have worked for some of the largest staffing organizations- and in my observations, no ONE organization (Resources Rich or Smaller Player) is getting it right. SM technology, including Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook, etc. should be part of a Total and Comprehensive (multi touch point) Social Experience that binds talent together into Talent Communities or Talent Banks… AND as a result binds the Talent Community to the staffing agency. The staffing agency should be nurturing the Talent Community with unique content, REAL JOB exposure to its client organizations, education, counsel, a discussion forum and a FEEL GOOD NETWORK that the talent wants to belong to. Tweeting out job postings or giving away free SWAG if you "LIKE" an agency, will not provide strategic results or build a Talent Social Network! AND hard-to-find, exotic skill sets and savvy candidates will look at this type of messaging and consider it SPAM, like when email blasts were popular and misused.
An engineer/ IT/ health care professional or other in high demand GURU that bills out at $300.00 - $500.00 per hour + will rarely respond to an agency Tweet or Linkedin job message that is generic...nor will they waste time joining a staffing agency network that does not provide long term value...but they will gladly take the iPad you are giving away! Furthermore, sophisticated clients don't care about how you will recruit from a reactive perspective, they want to know how you are building your bench of talent and managing it regionally, nationally and globally. Social Media will help a staffing agency accomplish a Talent Community, to a certain degree, when implemented into a Talent Social Network Strategy and Solution.
See the Actual and Complete PEW report that was referenced in SIA here: http://pewinternet.org/~/media//Files/Reports/2012/PIP_Twitter_Use_2012.pdf

Roger Federer - Seven Time Wimbledon Champion & #1 Men's Ranking! WHAT ARE THE WINNING LESSONS?
This was such an awesome weekend for me. I not only got to spend time celebrating my 44th birthday but I love watching great tennis… and watching Wimbledon was exciting but was also filled with WINNING lessons! I am at a Wimbledon viewing part right now, so my insights will be quick and to the point! Love that I can share these insights with you in real time via technology!
*** Roger arrived at Wimbledon before the mobs did. He had won six times prior but made it a priority to check out the physical and emotional landscape. Get a pulse on things. Never make assumptions, just because you have gone down a familiar road OR been a winner in a familiar arena.
*** Roger played many, many games prior to coming to Wimbledon. This demonstrates his willingness to perfect his game and stamina.
*** Roger had the clear Vision to win Wimbledon a seventh time. During pre Wimbledon interviews he was clear about his intentions and communicated them openly. Some reporters thought this was a bit presumptuous, when in reality; it was Roger's plan and strategy.
*** Roger and TEAM / FAMILY FEDERER made sacrifices and rallied together to support Roger physically, emotionally, financially… and providing a resources rich & positive culture. The team all focused on winning! This is vital! You can win a few times on your own but you cannot be the best-of-breed on YOUR OWN!
*** Roger was in control even during physical and emotional challenges...he would channel that pain or anguish or setback and convert it into FUEL to win his matches and Wimbledon 7. Winning over Murray was not a Walk in the Park. Murray had raw passion and determination and you can win many games with these qualities but Federer came better prepared to overcome tough moments and TAKE IT ALL.
In life, business and sports...this combination of Clear Vision, Preparation, Experience, Practice and Support/ Resources will make you NUMBER ONE!
When playing #Wimbledon, remember to keep your balls in your shorts! Upon winning #Wimbledon, it's OK to celebrate Balls Out!

Mitch Cardoza's 3 Time Award Winning (Manhattan Beach, Studio City & Topanga Canyon, CA - USA) Chili Recipe/ "California Wildfire"
Dear Friends:
As most of you, I love to cook... and every year I create a new chili recipe. In 2011 I created a mild and somewhat sweet pumpkin chili, the "Studio Suite."
This year, I bring you a true HOT HEAD... the "California Wildfire" and it's not for the faint at heart.
Enjoy!
Prep Time = 30 Mins
Cooking Time = 2 1/2- 3 Hours on Low/ Mid heat
Serves @ 10
Ingredients
1/2 pound bacon
2 pounds ground filet or lean sirloin
1 large green bell pepper, diced
1 medium yellow onion, diced
4 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
4 habanero peppers, seeded and chopped
6 Anaheim peppers, seeded and diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 bay leaves
1 1/2 tablespoons ground cumin
1 ½ tablespoons of black ground pepper
1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
3 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons beef bouillon granules
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
2 (16 ounce) cans whole peeled tomatoes, drained
1 (16 ounce) can chili beans, drained
1 (16 ounce) can black beans, drained
1 (16 ounce) can sweet corn, drained
1 (12 fluid ounce) can beer
1 cup red wine (cab/ merlot)
1 cup bourbon (Makers/ Jack)
1 small can of tomato paste
1 ounce chile paste
2 cups water
Directions
1. Place bacon in a large soup pot. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain excess grease, leaving enough to coat bottom of pot. Remove bacon, drain on paper towels and chop.
2. Brown beef in pot over medium high heat. When meat is browned, stir in the bell pepper, onion, jalapeno peppers, habanero peppers, anaheim peppers, garlic, cumin, red pepper flakes, chili powder, pepper, bouillon, crushed tomatoes, whole tomatoes, beer, wine, booze, tomato paste, chile paste and water.
3. Reduce heat to very low/med and simmer for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add bay leaves, beans, corn and bacon and continue simmering for another 90 minutes. If you prefer saltier chili, salt to taste with garlic salt during final 20 minutes of simmering.
Experiment/ Serve with the following toppings:
Diced Onions, Jack Cheese, Cheddar Cheese, Sour Cream, Pumpkin Seeds, Capers, Carob Chips, Chocolate Chips
